I, István (Steve) Harton, am the attorney in the firm.
I was born in Subotica, in the former Yugoslavia, and immigrated to the United States when I was still in elementary school.
I graduated from Santa Fe Catholic High School in Lakeland, Florida, and then went on to earn my Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from Auburn University, at Auburn, Alabama.
I worked as an engineer for a number of years, in Birmingham, Alabama, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mulberry, Florida, Palmetto, Florida, and Rock Springs, Wyoming. In the evenings, I also earned a Master of Engineering Management degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
At the age of 35, I decided to change careers, and went to law school at the University of Akron in Ohio, where I got my Juris Doctor degree.
After law school, I returned to Rock Springs, Wyoming, where I have been in private practice since 1998.
I am a member of the Wyoming, Florida and Utah State Bars.
Although I love practicing law, I love my family even more. My wife and I have been married since 1984, and we have four children.
Our oldest is a pilot in the United States Air Force. He flew C-130’s, and did a tour in Afghanistan. Then he was a T-6 instructor pilot, and now flies a C-12. He and his wife are also the parents of our two oldest grandchildren.
Our second child was an ESL teacher and event planner in Southeast Asia for many years, but returned to Wyoming a few years ago. She is now busy raising our two youngest grandchildren.
Our third child is a CAD drafter for an engineering company. He builds custom bicycles and spends a lot of time exploring the mountains of Colorado with his wife.
Finally, our baby got her degree in English literature, and is now teaching in Jackson, Wyoming, where she lives with her husband.
Being a father and a husband are the most meaningful things that I have done in my life. These things are important to me, but I have very good friends who are neither fathers or mothers, nor husbands or wives.
Now that we are “done” raising our children, my wife and I are doing more and more of the things we love to do. That would be traveling, camping, cross country skiing, biking, and fishing.
In my spare time, I also enjoy gardening, and riding my 1972 Moto Guzzi Ambassador.
